Kevin Brown
Founder – Director

Seasoned Traveller
& Travel Planner
I am Kevin Brown, 58, – British born in Swindon, England. Swindon is a major railway junction and a key town for the development of the railway network, known for its historical importance in the development of railways.
I grew up in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, the capital of England 700 years before London, and home to the UNESCO sites of Avebury & Stonehenge Stone Circles.
I have lived and worked in Denmark since 2003, having lived immediately prior in Germany, on the border with Luxembourg.
I now live in, and run Esatos Travel from, Egense Hjørnet in North Jutland, in Denmark.
I have sought, & found, adventure for as long as I can remember
As a child, the yearly overland family travels to the English South Coast, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, France or Italy were the highlight of my year. At 15, I began taking solo trips – initially to France, the Netherlands & Germany. At 16, I interrailed around Eastern & South-Eastern Europe with a friend, and at 17 a train & cycling trip to the French Alps & the Côte d´Azur. At 18 I was back interrailing again, this time solo to Spain, Portugal and Morocco.
I got my first taste of living ‘abroad’ in the 3rd year of a Language & Business studies bachelor at Lancaster University, where I worked in Roubaix, France for an academic year, followed by a summer studying at the Università per Stranieri in Perugia, Italy.
I was bitten…and left England again in 1991 to take a 2 year Master of Business Administration at IMEA in Besancon, France. Following completion of the MBA, I got a job at the European Commission in Luxembourg, so did not, and have never, returned to live in the UK.
I feel European, have done as long as I can remember, and as a consequence of Brexit, and now after 10 years or more living and working in Luxembourg & Germany, a year in Portugal, and 20+ years in Denmark – in total 35 years of living in the EU – I took Danish nationality, in addition to my British nationality.
Additionally, I have over the years also lived & worked for longer or shorter periods, in East Africa, China and the USA.
Over these years I have planned, organised & taken many Solo Overland Trips. I have a special passion for travelling by train, and East & West Africa are closest to my heart – especially Ethiopia & Senegal.
An especially memorable trip in another region was the Trans-Siberian Railway, part of a train and ferry overland journey from Denmark to Beijing via Sweden, Finland and Russia. In China, I initially worked as a cultural exchange English teacher, before travelling, partially overland, within China. Western China in particular stole my attention – Xinjiang and Gansu are truly magnificent.
My mother tongue is English and, through studies, work, and life experience, I am fluent in French & Danish, speak and understand German & Italian well, and have a modicum of knowledge of Mandarin Chinese & Spanish.

I simply love the sense of adventure when travelling!
As a child I travelled with my family to Italy, Germany, the Azores, the Canary Islands, Turkey & Cyprus – and as a Scout to Austria – and really got the travel bug.
In 2019 & 2022 I travelled to the USA.
In January 2024 I participated in a 4 week Group Trip to Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand and Laos.
My experiences in Asia gave me the courage and enthusiasm to subsequently plan & travel independently.
In Spring 2024 I planned a Solo Backpacking Trip, which took me on a thrilling 8 week tour of Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines in June & July 2024.
My mother tongue is Danish, I speak English fluently, and I understand German.
